Issue that can be resolved

Reduced chattering during machining and reduced surface roughness

This technique suppresses chatter that occurs when machining deep bores using long boring tools.
This is the next step in addressing chatter, an issue that anyone involved in machining metal have experienced at least once, after performing adjustments to machining conditions and switching to anti-vibration tools.

Technical details

To eliminate chattering and chatter marks caused by resonance, shifting the resonance frequency is an effective solution.
By using spindle speed variation function from Fanuc to periodically and slightly vary the spindle speed, it is possible to suppress chattering vibrations caused by resonance during machining.

  • Note: This function is not available on older versions of the CNC system. Be aware of this point.
