Thank you for joining us at JISSO PROTEC 2019.

Fuji recently exhibited at the JISSO PROTEC 2019 exhibition (21st Jisso Process Technology Exhibition) held for three days from June 5th to 7th at Tokyo Big Sight. For the first time ever Fuji was able to present its latest products in the Smart Factory Platform NXTR, built with line automation in mind. This was a highlight of the very successful three-day event. We would like to thank everyone who helped make this a success.
― Smart Factory Platform NXTR ―
With the NXTR we aim to free operators from repetitive tasks while maintaining a high level of quality and productivity. Part supply is a large portion of the work of an operator, and not supplying parts on time or setting the wrong parts contributes to part supply errors and short stops. The NXTR platform was developed upon a concept of three zeros (zero placement defects, zero machine stops, and zero machine operators). This was evident in the demonstration of the Smart Loader supplying parts based on the production schedule and performing changeover for the next production, which gained a lot of attention.

There are cases in which air leaks occur during part pickup when trying to handle parts that have uneven surfaces such as flexible boards and interposer parts which have bumps on both sides of the part. The newly developed H01V head keeps such loss of vacuuming pressure to a minimum by employing a high volume vacuum, for maintaining a stable pickup stance.
Solutions for supporting large panels such as server boards and those used for 5G base stations were demonstrated using Fuji Flexible Placement Platform - AIMEX III, a machine that caters perfectly to variable-mix, variable-volume production.
A new glue tool was also exhibited for the first time. This glue tool makes it possible to apply adhesive within AIMEX III machines, so glue application can be handled in one stage without the need for separate, dedicated equipment.

Responding to the need for single-machine solutions for handling IGBT and diode placement, we introduced the NXT-Hw together with a wafer supply unit (MWU12i-FC), the G04FQ head; a head that is well suited to placing dies, and a dip flux unit for flux transfer before placement.
Processing parts into supply trays is connected to raising the cost of each part, so it is common for part manufacturers to deliver loose parts without the extra packaging processing. However, trying to supply loose parts and bulk parts to surface mount machines has been a bottleneck within the automation of assembly processes. SmartWing comes with an advanced vision processing system as standard that can determine which parts are able to be handled when the parts are in varying states. By taking the parts that have been arranged into trays by the SmartWing and placing them using an sFAB-D or other robotic mounter, it is possible to automate the entire process of loose part supply and placement. By connecting SmartWing to Nexim in the future, part traceability can be improved and programming will also become easier by sharing part and tray data.
Atmospheric pressure plasma is a highly anticipated tool for manufacturing. The automotive industry requires solutions for making new-generation cars such as EV and PHV even lighter, which advances the usage of more resins with certain functional properties. Manufacturing processes that previously required metalworking such as welding, riveting, and bolting now often require bonding and joining technologies using adhesives. Tough Plasma is currently in the spotlight for surface treatment processing of materials that do not adhere to one other easily to improve the effectiveness of the bonding surfaces. In comparison to standard atmospheric pressure plasma machines, Tough Plasma FPF20 GM processes at a lower temperature and generates high-density oxygen radicals. This means that it does not cause heat damage to thermoplastic resins and can perform high-quality surface reforming in a short time.

― 3D-MID Booth ―
Fuji was also present at "3D-MID Pavilion" at the Total Solution Exhibition for Electronic Equipment. 3D-MID parts are highly-anticipated for application in a wide range of products including medical devices, automotive lights, and wearable devices. We are currently employing our vast experience in manufacturing surface mounters and assembly machines to take steps forward in the development of 3D-MID placement using SmartFAB, our Multipurpose Automated Fabrication Machine.
― SEMI SMT-ELS: SMT Equipment Link Standards ―
The Japan Robot Association (JARA) hosted a special exhibition with demonstrations on surface mounters that support SEMI SMT Equipment Link Standards (ELS). ELS is a fully realized communication standard that overcomes the barriers between surface mounters and peripheral units developed here in Japan. The demonstration involved batch production program changeover across machines from four surface mounter manufacturers, including Fuji, and generated a lot of interest.
